Barbara Jean Chandler, 82 of Terre Haute, passed away at 9:04 AM on Friday, August 26, 2016 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute on May 3, 1934 to Jesse Roddy and Helen Roddy. Barbara was a school bus driver for the Vigo County School Corporation for nearly 40 years. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, and loved to spend time with her family, travel, cook, play cards and loved her dog Gillie. She is survived by four children: Brent Chandler (wife Cheryl), Bob Chandler, Blaine Chandler (wife Cindi), and Bonnie Chandler James (husband Todd). Also surviving are five grandchildren: Stacey, Lindsay, Brian, Jimmy, and Brittanie, as well as nine great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home. In keeping with Barbara's wishes, cremation has been chosen with burial of ashes at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, in her memory.
