Arwine "Mac" McCarley, 90, a resident of Covington for the past 1 ½ years and formerly of Prairieton and Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday October 19, 2010 in The Waters in Covington, IN. He was a retired brick mason. Arwine was born October 29, 1919 in Coal Grove, OH to Arthur McCarley and Almeda (Thornton) McCarley. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, W. Ruth (Smith) McCarley; a daughter: Barbara Lee Moffett and her husband Jim of Covington; a son: Michael Paul McCarley and his wife Betty of Greenfield, IN; 3 grandchildren: Steve McCarley, Brady Moffett, and Whitney Jones; 5 great grandchildren: Keaton McCarley, Paige McCarley, Chloe Jones, Nora Jones, and Barrett Moffett, and a sister: Alberta Dillon of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Arthur McCarley and a sister: Marjorie McKenzie. He was a veteran of the US Army during WW II, an archery state champion and enjoyed fishing and golf.
