Arthur William Burke, 77, of Terre Haute passed away in Union Hospital on April 4, 2013 at 4:40 a.m. He was born on December 2, 1935 to Arthur William Burke Sr. and Treva Lucille (Thompson) Burke. Arthur retired from the United States Post Office as a clerk after 33 years of service. He was an associate member of Voiture 21- 40 and 8, a lifetime member of Marine Corp League, and he also held member ship in the Eagles and American Legion #346. Arthur was a gentle and kind man. He was a good step father, and he could fix anything. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents; son James Joseph Burke; sister Linda McVey; step son Steven Staley; and step daughter Tonya Morris. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Reta (Snyder) Burke; son John Burke, his fiancé' Cindy; daughter Jill Meyers; brother Maurice Burke; sisters Ruth Hallett-Anderson and Joyce Isle; special grandsons Jeramy Burke and Harley Staley; step children Adrienne Davies, her husband Dwight, Nick Staley, his wife Valena, and Byron Staley; several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special friend Sharon Higginbotham. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday April 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Pastor David Brown will be officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
