Anita G. Halstead, 89, of Terre Haute passed away on October 28, 2013. She was born in Terre Haute on June 20, 1924 to Orlen L. and Edna F. (Martindale) Kautz. She was a retired bookkeeper and secretary. She was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, a 1942 graduate of Garfield High School, and was one of the 'Shady Ladies' when she resided in Shady Oaks. Her husband, Charles Max Halstead has preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter Linda Clark and her husband Dennis of Terre Haute, a son John M. Halstead and his wife Marie of St. Louis, three grandchildren John DeVeau, Joshua DeVeau, and Christopher Halstead. There are six great-grandchildren, two nieces, and one nephew. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister Irma Jean Spencer, a grandson David DeVeau, and one niece Anna Faye Tabor. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. in the chapel at Highland Lawn Cemetery on Friday, November 1, 2013, with Pastor Aaron Wheaton officiating.
