Alfred Cornelius Joyner, 57, of Terre Haute, made his transition Oct. 1, 2013, at 11:20 p.m. He was born June 18, 1956, to Lorris Inez Clopton (Joyner). His earlier years were spent in Terre Haute, but he and his mom moved to Chicago, Illinois where he received his formal education and earned a diploma from Unity High School. He made a living as a lawn care specialist until his health failed him. Alfred was preceded in death by his sister Lorris Michele Bass and his mother, Lorris Inez Clopton (Joyner). He leaves to cherish his memory step-father, James Clopton, daughter, Ebony Wallace, her husband Marc, grandchildren Asha, Marc Aaron and Caleb, brother James Bass, nieces Neesha and Nyla, nephew Philip Lambert, great nephew Alijah and a host of cousins too numerous to name. Services are scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2013, in DeBaun Funeral Home, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 and funeral from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. The Rev. Terry Clark will be officiating.
