William E. “Butch” Collins, 79 of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at The Waters of Greencastle. He was born March 8, 1939 in Terre Haute to Lyle Collins and Esther (Beddow) Collins. Butch played high school basketball, baseball and ran track where he accomplished being an All-State basketball star. He was an avid sports fan. “Sweet William’s” larger than life character will truly be missed by all of us. Butch retired in 1977 from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service, where he served two tours in Vietnam. He then taught at Great Lakes Engineering School for 10 years. He moved back to Terre Haute where he worked and retired from Lee Allen Bryant as a Maintenance Supervisor. He is survived by his wife, Lucille “Luci” (Gehlhausen) Collins; sons, Michael Collins (Denise) of Wadsworth, IL, Jeffrey Bell (Teri) of Terre Haute; daughters, Teri Nelson (Del) of Belleview, FL, Heather Robertson of Rockville, IN, and Amanda Smith (Christopher) of Wareham, MA; one sister, Carol Laucevicius of Indianapolis; nieces, Kelly and Dee Dee; nephew, Tony and grandchildren, Kieman, Jordan, Nicholas, Tristin, Morgan, Kelli, Jenifer, Jamie, Shelby, Wyatt, and Genevieve.
