Wayne David Hancock, 93, passed away July 6, 2019 in Linton, IN at Glenburn Nursing Home. He was born on May 27, 1926 to Robert L Hancock and Corlena Mix Hancock in Sanborn, IN. Wayne is preceded in death by both parents; Brothers Robert M Hancock and John H Hancock; Sisters Eugenia Tribby, Marie Niedringhous, and Virginia Bennet. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Hancock; Son Dennis Hancock (Bell); Daughter Rita Hancock; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He worked as a coalminer for Peabody Coal as well as farming. Wayne was a member of the Sanborn United Methodist Church as well as the Sanborn Masonic Lodge #647, Bicknel Elks #1421, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, United Mine Workers or America, Academy of Model Aeronautics, as well as the Terre Haute Radio Central Club. After retiring, Wayne spent a lot of time building and flying remote controlled airplanes. He enjoyed spending his time with family. Wayne’s final wishes were to be cremated with no services.
