Virginia Lee (Brunker) Hayworth

Virginia Lee Brunker Hayworth, 101, of Terre Haute and formerly of Farmersburg passed away on Thursday January 11, 2018 in Springhill Village. She was born February 28, 1916 in Hamilton Township, Sullivan County, IN to Fred S and Grace (Plew) Brunker. She worked in the Curry Township Office for several years and was co-owner and operated Heavy’s 66 Filing Station in Farmersburg and in 1958, she built and with her son, Byron, operated County Line Flowers floral shop for 13 years. Survivors include two sons, Byron Hayworth (Laura) of Terre Haute and John Hayworth (Connie) of Fort Myers, FL; sister, Joy Davenport of Anderson, IN; half-brother, Gene Norris of Marshall, IL; four grandchildren, Renee Crane (Ron) of Farmersburg, Denise Turack of Chesapeake, VA, Troy Hayworth of Indianapolis, and Angelic Sulejmani (Faruk) of Fort Myers, FL; eight great-grandchildren, Holly Wright (Jesse), Ronald Drake, Sr. (Kristin), Nicole Ediger (Jordan), Steven Turack, Jr, Bryce Hayworth (Cassie), Helen Hayworth, Alyxandria Payne, and Marcus Payne; eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dirrelle S (Heavy) Hayworth, whom she married in 1936; brother and sister-in-law, Raleigh and Ruthe Brunker; brother-in-law, Clifford Davenport and two stepsisters, Ruby Lyman and Rosemary Bledsoe. Virginia was a 1934 graduate of Shelburn High School. She was a member of Farmersburg United Methodist Church and past President of the Methodist Women’s Society. She was Past Matron for Farmersburg Order of Eastern Star. She was organizer of Sullivan County Garden Club and judged in many local and state floral shows. She was also and active member of the Republican Parth of Sullivan County and served on the election board for many years and she served as board member, secretary and manager of Farmersburg West Lawn Cemetery for 30 years. Visitation will be Saturday January 20, 2018 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Blansett and Reverend Don Ransford officiating. Burial will be in Farmersburg West Lawn Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Springhill Village and Heart to Heart Hospice for all their love and support.The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Farmersburg West Lawn cemetery in Dirrelle and Virginia Hayworth’s name.
