Tom Stefanski, 92, of Terre Haute died on June 19 2018 at Shakamak Good Samaritan in Jasonville. Tom was born on April 2 1926 to Paul Stefanski and Anna (Ansorge) Stefanski. Survivors include many nieces and nephews, and adopted nephew Mike Brewer. He is preceded in death by his parents; Brothers Carl Stefanski and Joe Stefanski; Sisters Gertrude Mason, Martha McKee, Trudy Arcand Katherine Wallace, Pauline Burch, and special sisters Ann and Margaret Stefanski. Tom retired from Amax Coal Co. in Minnehaha Mine Dugger Indiana. He was a member of VMWA Local 1432, a member of American Legion Post 104, VFW Post 972, DAV Chapter 9, all of Terre Haute, Sullivan, Elks Lodge 911, Bishop Simon Brute Society, St. Ben Catholic Church in Terre Haute, and St Joan of Arc Catholic Church of Jasonville. Tom was a World War II Veteran. Tom was a member of the 41st Armed Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armed Division of the 9th Army. He was wounded at Magdeburg Germany during the Elbe River Crossing. Awards included Combat Infantry’s Badge, the Purple Heart, Belgian Fourragere, and the EAME medal with three Bronze Battle Stars of the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Visitation for Tom will be held on Sunday, June 24 from 4-8 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Rosary Service starting at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 25, 12:05 PM, at St Benedicts Church in Terre Haute. Burial will follow at K of P Cemetery in Hymera.
