Ruth Stringer Obituary

Ruth A. Stringer, 79, of Terre Haute passed away Monday February 25, 2019 at 9:03 pm in Springhill Village. She was born March 10, 1939 in Columbus, OH. Ruth is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Stringer; sons, Robert Hollen of Greenfield and his wife Tamara of Columbus, IN; Chuck Tyner and his wife Seante of Chicago, and Jeffrey Stringer and his wife Shanda of Branson, MO; grandchildren, Matthew Hollen and his wife Mechelle, Joshua Hollen, Taylor Hollen, Jared Douglas, Ethan Tyner, and Sebastian Stringer; a sister, Jean West, and brothers, Robert Gourlay and Jim Gourlay. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Gourlay. She was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Ruth was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church; she was active at the YWCA and enjoyed walking every day. She was a reading mentor at Fuqua Elementary and a volunteer at the Crisis Pregnancy Center. A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm in First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan LaFleur officiating. DeBaun Springhill Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church or the Stringer Foundation.
