Ruth DeCamp Obituary

Ruth N. DeCamp, 95, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2018.  Ruth was born May 23, 1922, in Pimento, Indiana to Everett Trueblood and Oltha Trueblood.

She married Robert W. DeCamp on July 20, 1946. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2000. Ruth was a homemaker after retiring from Quaker Maid. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and her family was her source of pride. Another source of pride were her home and yard which she meticulously managed. Ruth was an avid college and professional sports fan, especially IU basketball during the Knight era. Ruth, as a member of the “Greatest Generation”, embodied all the characteristics, spirit, and priorities associated with it. There are not enough words to express how loved and missed she will be.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Ruth had 7 siblings all of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Larry DeCamp (Anne) of Clinton, IN and Brad DeCamp (Carol) of Columbus, IN. Grandchildren include the late Molly (Jeff) Kinnett, Corinna (Doug) Erb, Ashley (Dan) O’Malley and Blaine (Sarah) DeCamp. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Jeffrey Kinnett, Jessie (Justin) Moore, Peyton Erb, Griffin Erb and Ryan O’Malley. Great-great- grandchildren include Robbie Ludlow, Bryson Moore and Abigail Moore. Also surviving are her dear friend and neighbor Elaine Wence and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of a service, a celebration of Ruth’s life is planned for a later date.
