Ronald Chickadaunce Obituary

Ronald Lee Chickadaunce, 71, passed away May 6, 2018 at Regional Hospital.  He was born July 9, 1946 to Warren and Kathryn (Edwards) Chickadaunce.  He and his twin brother graduated from ISU in 1968 with a degree in education but later he decided to pursue a career in law enforcement. 

Ron married Becka Jewell on November 25, 1972.  He became a deputy with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department and worked there for 36 years, retiring as a Lieutenant.   He attended the Prairie Creek Church of Christ and was a member of the Sullivan Elks Club. Ron loved all his children and grandchildren and spent lots of time with them.  He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends and becoming a member of the Rinky Dinks at the Sullivan Elks Club. 

Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Becka, son Mark Chickadaunce, daughters; Leigh Anna Elliott (Ron) and Katy Eaker (T.C.), brother Ed Chickadaunce (Bonnie) and sister-in- law Mary Sue VanSant (Jim).  He is also survived by six grandchildren; Paige Chickadaunce, Levi Chickadaunce, Emileigh Elliott, Abagail Elliott, Elise Eaker and Lillian Eaker as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Donald Chickadaunce, and aunt Lulu Chickadaunce.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with police honors.  Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Woodason officiating.  Burial with police honors will follow the service at Watson Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
