Rita Gail Drake, 65, passed away on January 1, 2020 at St Vincent Hospital. She was born to Ferris Roberson and Mary Ann Tully Roberson on March 4, 1954. She is preceded in death by both parents and her sister Judi Hartsburg. Rita is survived by her loving husband Dr Stan Drake; daughters Nichole Morton (Eric) and Tiffany Drake and son Tim Drake (Kelly); sisters Mary Jo Pierson (David), Patti Jensen (Jay), Carol Newport (Bob); grandchildren Everett Morton, Kali Drake and Clayton Drake. Rita was a very special woman, if you ever had the pleasure of meeting her you would agree. She had a way of touching so many lives. She always brought joy and laughter to any room, even when there was absolutely nothing going on. It was truly a blessing to have her in your life. Rita was life-long friends with her Schulte and Sacred Heart girls. They would get together all the time. She was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. Rita loved being involved in anything that helped others. Flocking the yards of friends and family for the Red Cross was one of them. She loved the Wizard of Oz, especially the Wicked Witch of the West, although regardless of what she wanted you to think she was never a bit like her. Rita was very social, never met a stranger, and could never say no to anyone. She’d give you the shirt off her back. Many of us will always love her and know her as Mama Rita. Visitation for Rita will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Sunday, January 5 from 4-8 PM with Rosary services at 7. Services will be Monday, January 6 at 11:00 AM with burial at New Harmony Cemetery to follow. If you knew her, you’d know that this is not a goodbye, but a see you soon. Let’s celebrate the life of this amazing woman in a way she would want us to. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
