Ray Higginbotham Obituary

God called Ray Higginbotham, 78 of Terre Haute, to his Eternal Resting Place on February 2, 2018 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital at 10:41 a.m.  He was born to Clifford Higginbotham and Fernn Hofmann Higginbotham on December 22, 1939.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his sister, Ann Mangus, brother George (Tomi) Higginbotham, three nephews; Rob Kirchner, Clint Higginbotham and Clay (Pricilla) Higginbotham all of Terre Haute,  one great niece Sayce of Terre Haute, one aunt Nadine Hofmann of Alabama.  Several cousins are also survivors. 

Ray graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1957.  He graduated from Indianapolis School of Mortuary Science.  He worked for several funeral homes in the Terre Haute area.  He retired from Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, former member of Prairieton Methodist Church, a Veteran with the 81st Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  He loved his sports which he played Semi-Pro Fast Pitch Soft Ball for Terre Haute Coca-Cola, Compton Cleaners, Clean Air and other teams.  He also played baseball for teams in Terre Haute.  He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and other sports.  He enjoyed gardening, raising cattle and chickens, hunting and fishing.

Arrangements are entrusted with DeBaun Funeral Home Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive.  Per his wishes there will not be visitation.  Graveside services will be held at New Harmony Cemetery, State Road 63 and Harlan Drive on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org in honor of Ray.  Online condolences may be made at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
