Lowell W Smith

– Lowell W. Smith passed away Monday August 26, 2019 surrounded by his wife and family. 

Lowell is survived by Judy, his wife of 53 years and four children; Steve Smith, Sherrie Kirkpatrick (Scott), Scott Smith (Brooke), and Sam Smith.  Also surviving are grandchildren; Garrett Smith, Jake Kirkpatrick, Johnny Kirkpatrick, and Steven Smith.

Lowell was born in Terre Haute on Feb. 20, 1941 to Ora and Jennie Smith.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Katherine Nelson, Howard Smith, and Martha Jane Starrett. 

He graduated from Otter Creek High School in 1959.  Lowell was a proud member of IBEW 725 and retired from N.R.K after 34 years as an electrician. He was a member of Prairieton United Methodist Church. Lowell was never short of things to do in retirement including spending time in his garden, working in his wood shop, and playing golf with friends and family.  He deeply cherished the time he spent with his family and watching his grandchildren grow-up as a proud grandpa.

Visitation for Lowell will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home Springhill Chapel on Friday August 30th, from 4 to 7 pm as well as Saturday August 31st from 10 am to 11 AM.  Services will start at 11 AM at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Julie Puttmann.  Private burial services will be at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Prairieton United Methodist Church or the Prairieton Fire Department with envelopes available at the funeral home.
