John Lyndell Drake, 67, of Fairbanks went home to be with the Lord on Monday December 31, 2018 at 6:45 pm in Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He was retired from Pfizer. He was born March 14, 1951 in Sullivan to Lyndell Drake and Mary (Brachvogel) Drake. John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Annie (Emery) Drake; sons, Chris Drake (Erin) of Brownsburg, Jason Drake (Amanda) of Terre Haute, and Jared Drake (Cally) of Bloomington; grandchildren, Colbie and Brecken Drake; sisters, Mary Jane Curry (Don) of Olive Branch, MS and Karen Scott (Larry) of Terre Haute and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Shannon Scott. John was a 1969 graduate of North Central High School, a US Army veteran from 1971-1973, serving in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and Fairbanks Missionary Baptist Church. John loved the Lord. He enjoyed farming, woodworking, bird hunting, being outdoors, and he loved spending time with his family. Visitation will be Saturday January 12, 2019 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm in Fairbanks Missionary Baptist Church with a Celebration of John’s Life starting at 3:00 pm in the church with Pastor Larry Gilaspy officiating.
