Jimmie DeWayne Senff

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done for us through his servant Jimmie DeWayne Senff.

Jimmie DeWayne Senff was born on the thirty-first of December in the Year of Our Lord 1931 to Delbert and Pearl (nee Shaneyfelt) Senff in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was born again as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on the twenty-first of September, 2011, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Terre Haute, Indiana, at the hand of the Rev. Philip G. Meyer. He was catechized in the Christian faith, as taught by the Evangelical Lutheran Church, and confirmed on the twenty-first of December, 1958, at Christ Lutheran Church, Woodburn, Indiana, at the hand of the Rev. Howard Georg.

He was united in holy marriage to Dorothy Jean Kieninger on the thirty-first of May, 1958, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bremen, Indiana, at the hand of the Rev. Harold Schmidt. God blessed them with 59 years of married life together. God blessed their marriage with one daughter and two sons, Jill Talley, Jeffery Senff, and Michael Senff; in addition seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and his brother Jay Senff. Jimmie DeWayne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister Joan Senff Ross.

On the sixth of October, 2018, Jimmie DeWayne fell asleep in Christ, with whom he waits for the resurrection of all flesh. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our brother in Christ Jimmie DeWayne Senff.

Christian funeral service for Jimmie DeWayne is at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 13, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 645 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, with rite of Christian committal to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The Rev. Jacob Sutton, pastor of Immanuel, will serve as officiant. Visitation will be for one hour preceding the funeral in the Immanuel narthex. There will also be a visitation at DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 E Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 12. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church , 645 Poplar St. Terre Haute IN 47807.
