Jean Carol Kemp, 78, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday August 21, 2018. She was born October 29, 1939 to Wilfred and Mary (Ege) Humble. She was raised in Willard, MO with her sister, Janice Falke. She met the love of her life, Max, at Prater’s Market in Springfield, MO and they were married on January 31, 1959. Jean graduated from Parkview High School in 1957. She retired as a sales associate from J.C. Penney’s after 28 years of employment. She worked at the department stores in both Terre Haute, IN and Springfield, MO. She also attended and taught classes at Weight Watchers for over 30 years. Jean was an exercise enthusiast. She walked an hour every day and lived a healthy lifestyle. She also loved shopping for antiques and Mickey Mouse and Peanut collector items. She was a volunteer at the Springfield Public Library gift shop for several years and she enjoyed the monthly J.C. Penney Retirees Luncheons. She liked to watch old classic movies on T.V and loved shopping with her sister, Janice. She was proud of her son, Chris and adored her two grandchildren, Josh and Amber. Jean is survived by her son, Chris Kemp (Lisa); grandson, Josh Kemp (Caitlin); granddaughter, Amber Taylor (Brett); great-granddaughters, Lily Taylor and Layla Kemp; a sister, Janice Falke and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Max Kemp and her son, Doug Kemp. Visitation will be Friday August 24, 2018 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM in Meadors Funeral Home, 314 N. Main St. Republic, MO with funeral services at 2:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be Greenlawn Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Online condolences may be left at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
