James "Jim" Reeder Obituary

Devoted father and husband James “Jim” Edward Reeder, 68, of Terre Haute went to be with the Lord while surrounded by family in his home on July 19, 2018.  He was born in Hammond Indiana to Wilbur and Anna (Jung) Reeder on September 21, 1949.  He is preceded in death by both parents; brother Russell “Rusty” Reeder; and sister Karen Renwick.  James is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Rita Martin-Reeder; daughters Mercedes Ofsansky (David) and Chanel Bowers (Dave); brothers Charles “Chuck” Reeder (Phyllis) and Ronald “Ron” Reeder (Susan); his grandchildren whom he loved very much, Westbrook and Sylvia Rose Ofsansky, and Jerome and Abilene Bowers; his super sister and brother-in-law Retha Martin and Robert Van Alstine,  as well as many special nieces and nephews.  James was a member of Saint Joseph University Parish. He was a graduate from Lake Central High School class of ’68 in St Johns IN and made Terre Haute his home after attending Indiana State University where he received a B.S. in Political Science and Economics.  He worked for 39 years at Firestone Auto Care, where he was store manager for the last seven years.  Jim never missed an opportunity to be with his family. He also had a great love for his cats. Visitation for Jim will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Tuesday July 24 from 4-7 PM with services at 11:00 AM Wednesday July 25 at Saint Joseph University Parish in Terre Haute. Friar Mark Weaver will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Spay-Neuter League of Terre Haute. Online condolences may be left at DeBaunFuneralHomes.com
