Gerald “GT” Thomas passed away on October 5, 2018 at the age of 94. Gerald was born on July 5, 1924 to Loren Thomas and Opal (Chowning) Thomas in Sullivan County. He is survived by his wife Rosemary (Pierson) Thomas having been married 72 years; one son, Steven Thomas (Becky) of Longboat Key, FL; one daughter, Jan Alexander of Terre Haute; six grandchildren. Stacy Thomas, Eric Thomas (Kelly), Scott Lidster, Dustin Lidster, Ashley Mojica (Joshua), and Megan Wilson (J.R.), seven great-grandchildren and a half-brother, Mark Thomas (Karen) of Terre Haute. He was preceded in death by a brother, Garnet Thomas. GT was a well know and successful businessman in the Wabash Valley from 1956-1996. He was the President and CEO of Thomas Manufactured Housing. He developed and owned several retail manufactured housing locations and manufacturing companies in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. Gerald and Rosemary were charitable benefactors of Union Hospital in Terre Haute, having endowed Thomas Professional Plaza-UAP Clinic. Gerald also served in the US Navy from 1943-1946. Gt had a passion for playing golf and cards with his friends. He developed many life-long friendships through those activities. He also enjoyed reading. He and his wife spent their winter months in Florida for the past 48 years. He will be loved and remembered by many. Visitation will be Tuesday October 9, 2018 from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 1:30 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Todd Payton officiating. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Vigo County Veterans honor Guard.
