Eugene Lowell Saucerman 93, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on December 20, 2018. He was born July 19, 1925 in Dugger, Indiana to Orval and Ethel ( Kelley Miller) Saucerman. Gene married Sally Ann Casey on September 14, 1963. Gene is preceded in death by his parents; brother Joe; sister Doris; wife Sally and daughter Sandy Ring. Survived by his son-in-law Allen Ring and grandson Cody Ring, and special friends Telena, Kyle and Grant Ellis of Terre Haute, Indiana.
Gene was a former Prisoner of War in the European Theater of World War II. He was captured at the Battle of the Bulge and was in the Army in the 106th Infantry.
He graduated from Pleasantville High School 1943 and Purdue University 1952. Gene retired from Hooks Drugs in 1988 after 36 years as a pharmacist. He was a National member of American Ex-Prisoners of War. Gene served as a National Service Officer for American Ex-Prisoners of War. He was a member of many different organizations; the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, a member of the American Legion Dugger Post 224 since 1945, 60 plus year member of Dugger Lodge #721, a life member of the Zorah Shrine, member of York Rite and Scottish Rite, as well as a member of Indiana Volunteer Firefighter’s Association. Visitation for Gene will be held on Saturday December 22 at DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with services starting at 12:00. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pastor Tim Voll will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Sandra Kay Ring Memorial Fund an educational trust fund for her son, Gene’s Grandson, Through First Financial Bank.
