Dorothy M. (Hanes) Jenkins passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Springhill Village. She was born April 23, 1935 in Terre Haute to Robert Jeffords and Cleora Henry Jeffords. Dorothy worked as a Medical Records Clerk at Union Hospital over 30 years. She was a member of the Southside Church of Christ, belonged to the Sycamore Club and the Wabash Western Riders, loved to play Euchre, go shopping, and was known for the best lasagna ever.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 11 years, John Jenkins, daughters Rhonda Crumley (David), Becky Van Gilder (Richard), son Rusty Hanes (Sherry), eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, step daughter Cheryl Gaither (Bob), step-son John Jenkins, Jr., and sister-in-law Kathleen and Bob Decker.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband and father of her children Russ Hanes.
A special thank you to the staff at Springhill Village and Union Hospital for the exceptional care given to Dorothy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Dorothy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Service will follow visitation with Ken Grubb officiating . Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
