Richard (Dick) George Stockberger, 76, of Terre Haute passed away on Thursday, June 27, surrounded by his loving family. He was a 35 year employee at Public Service of Indiana as a journeyman lineman, where he was a proud Union Representative for many years. He served in the Army Reserves from 1964- 1970. After Dick retired, he worked as a Ranger at Hulman Links Golf Course, where he spent many enjoyable hours playing golf as well.
Dick was born on March 3, 1943, in St. Joseph County in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Joseph and Ova Stockberger, and graduated from Sullivan High School in 1961. He is survived by his wife, Connie Schwab Sluder Stockberger, whom he married on March 25, 1967; daughters Kelly Hammond and her husband Christopher, and Kathy Anderson and her husband John of Terre Haute; granddaughters Connor and Megan Hammond and Ellie Anderson; brother Jerry Stockberger of Sullivan and sisters Virginia Price of Goshen, and the late Susie Sullivan of Sullivan; along with many nieces and nephews.
Dick loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He was loved by many -- often the entertainer in most situations. He always had a funny story, a word of encouragement, and, if you were lucky, an endearing nickname reserved just for you. His work friends, golf friends, and church family were a very special part of his life.
