Billy Joe Edwards

Billy Joe Edwards, 86, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday September 24, 2019 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He retired from Eli Lilly and had previously worked at Eldridge Harley Davidson Motorcycle Shop and Wadsworth Furnace Company. He was born March 29, 1933 in Bridgeton, IN to Ray and Irene (Adams) Edwards. Billy is survived by his daughters, Sharon Norris (Jerry), Cathy Norris, Judi Barnes, and Sandy Hayward (Doug); son, Steve Edwards; grandchildren, Dusty Norris, T.J. Norris, Luke Barnes, Christie Wright, Jared Norris, and Katie Elson; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia Edwards whom he married November 28, 1953 and she died February 4, 2015. Billy helped on the family farm in Bridgeton were he went all the way through school and graduated in 1952 from Bridgeton High School. He gor his private pilot license in 1959 from Brown Flying School and was a member of the Vigo County Pilot’s Association. He was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and rode his motorcycle all of the United States. He was passionate about anything that went fast. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. Visitation will be Saturday September 28, 2019 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Chaplain Colleen Montgomery officiating. Burial with military honors will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
