Obituaries

Ralph W. Smith age 85 of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away in his home at Westminster Village 1120 E. Davis Drive, Terre Haute on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. He was born May 28, 1926 to Pearl and Jessie Smith. He retired from United Technologies Corporation in 1982 in Sunnyvale, California. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Jean Smith of San Jose, California; four sons Michael B. Smith of San Mateo, California and wife Betty; Thomas E. Smith of San Jose, California and wife Kristy; David A. Smith of Livermore, California and wife Kathy; Ralph Wayne Smith of Alpharetta, Georgia and wife Mary. Five Grandsons, Michael Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota and wife Jessica; Brandon Smith and Cody Smith of San Jose, California; Jason Goodwin and wife Petra of California; Robert Goodwin and wife Grace of Texas; Six Granddaughters, Dawn Goodwin of Pacifica, California; Kirsten Gilmore and husband Joel of Tracy California; Rebecca Smith of Livermore, California; Michelle Lewis and husband Tom of San Mateo; Alysha Smith and Megan Smith of Alpharetta, Georgia; four great Grandsons Brandon Smith; Brayden and Josiah Smith of Minnesota, Caden Gilmore, California, one brother Paul and his wife Yoshoko, a very special friend, Betty Gummere, of Terre Haute, also special friends Robert and Nadine Hofmann of Farmersburg, Indiana, Four nephews Darrell Felling, Charles Felling both of Terre Haute, Paul D Smith of California, and Donald Smith of California. Three nieces, Sharon Smith of Florida, Leah Smith of California and Carol Volkers of Warsaw, Indiana, He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Bauer Smith of Terre Haute, wife of seven months Florence Fields Smith, Parents and two brothers, Richard and Donald Smith and one sister, Maxine Felling of Terre Haute. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2012 in DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. He will be returned to Santa Clara, California for burial. There will be graveside services in the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara, California at a later date.
