Nina Joy (Higgins) Riggins

Nina Joy Riggins, 85, Farmersburg, passed away June 12, 2017.

Nina was born Jan. 2, 1932, in Farmersburg, to David and Francis (Arthur) Higgins. She operated Hendrickson’s Grocery in Farmersburg for many years and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known to everyone as Mammy. She was a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church, Coalmont.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Tapp and Rosemary Jewell; five brothers, Gerald Higgins, Paul Higgins, Leon Higgins, Bobby Higgins and Jimmy Kistler; a son-in-law, Johnny C. Bosstick; and two stepdaughters, Shirley Riggins and Donna Wright.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James E. (“Buck” or “Pappy”) Riggins Sr., Farmersburg, whom she married on Aug. 10. 1971; two daughters, Debra Bosstick, Farmersburg, and Trudy (and Ron) Bartz, Buchanan, Michigan; one stepson, James E. Riggins Jr. (and Freda), Farmersburg; two grandsons, Jason (and Amanda) Bosstick, Brazil, and Harold Bosstick, Farmersburg; one great-grandchild, Kylee Bosstick; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special children, Steve and LeeAnn Nickless.

Services for Nina are at 12:00 pm today June, 20, 2017 at the West Lawn Cemetery chapel, Farmersburg, with Pastor David Smith officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time . In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the North Central High School choral boosters or Friendly Grove Baptist Church.
