Dennis A Dugger

Dennis A. Dugger, 71, of Terre Haute, passed away June 12, 2017 in his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born November 9, 1945 in Clinton, Indiana to Warren M. Dugger and Patricia (Hawkins) Dugger. 

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Dolan) Dugger , whom he married August 25, 1968; his son, Bryan P. Dugger of Seelyville; his daughters, Myra Jo Hart and her husband, Robert of Bargersville, Indiana, Angela T. Richards and her husband, Aaron of Greenwood, Indiana, and Andrea K. Barger and her husband, Wayn of Bargersville, Indiana. He is also survived by his brothers, Patrick Dugger and his wife, Gertrude, and Tim Dugger and his wife, Jamie; sister, Sharon Carbo; his grandchildren, Ashley Watkins, Nathan Hart, Alivia Dugger, Brady Richards, Makenzie Richards and  Aubrey Barger, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Ace.

Described as a man who was never at a loss for words, Dennis Dugger marched to the beat of his own drum. He was truly an original and loved by many. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He and his wife enjoyed many adventures with their children, grandchildren, family, and friends camping all over the US. "Papaw D" loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Dennis, a 1963 Rosedale High School graduate, was a Drum Major in the high school band, an Eagle Scout, and awarded the God and Country award.  He began his career as an X-Ray Technician at St. Anthony’s Hospital.  He was a longtime X-Ray Technician at close friend Dr. Robert J. Burkle’s practice.  He was employed for several years at both Terre Haute Regional and Union Hospital and spent 7 years as a traveling X-Ray Technician. Finally, he retired from Clinton Hospital. Throughout his career was also actively involved in the Indiana Society of Radiologic Technologists. He served in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 439.  He was an ordained minister.  Dennis was a long time Hot Rod enthusiast, and enjoyed working in the garage and attending car shows with his friends. He assisted in organizing and was a member of the Road Knights Terre Haute, IN car club.

Services will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Steve Blaydes officiating at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 East Springhill Drive, Terre Haute. Visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. In honor of Dennis and his passion for old cars, we ask that friends drive their Hot Rods in the funeral processional for one last cruise with Dennis.

In memory of  D.A.D. a memorial fund has been established in hopes of helping future car enthusiasts enjoy the love of old cars as much as he did.  Memorial fund contributions can be made at all First Financial banking centers and envelopes will also be provided at the funeral home.
