Obituaries

Maurice Harden, Sr., 73, of Terre Haute died at his Dreiser Square residence on August 14, 2010. Born in Terre Haute on May 8, 1937, he was the son of Stephen and Vera (Butler) Harden. He retired from the food service industry. His wife of 32 years, Ruby L.(Jackson)Harden, preceded him in death. He is survived by his childen Charlie Harden of Clay City, Rita M. Weir and husband Mike of Prairie Creek, Maurice Harden, Jr and wife Rhonda, Stephen Harden and wife Kay all of Terre Haute. There are 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His brothers and sisters are Stephen R. (Dick), Rose (deceased), Gerald F. ‘Buck’ (deceased), Mildred, Doris, Paul, Wayne (deceased), Harold, Nancy, Brenda, and Charles. He served with the Indiana National Guard from 1954 to 1957. Mr. Harden had a passion for gardening and donated to numerous charities both nationally and within the Wabash Valley. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Diana Waldon officiating. Calling will be Saturday from one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. For those who choose contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Maurice Harden, Sr. Fund at any Fifth Third Bank location.
