Obituaries

Margie “Chris” (Myers) Allen passed away in her home with her family by her side on January 20, 2012 at 2:25 p.m. Chris was born on February 9, 1925 to Emmett Myers and Goldie (Kurtz) Myers. She married her husband J.T. Allen on September 22, 1946. Chris was a member of the Maplewood Christian Church. She was a teacher’s aide at Fuqua Elementary School and Hoosier Prairie Elementary School. Chris was devoted to her family, and enjoyed spending time with them. She is best known for her angel food cake, cherry pie, and pea salad.
Chris is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years J.T. Allen, and her parents. She is survived by her son James Allen; daughter Jeanne Endress and her husband Larry; grandchildren Rich Beeler, his wife Erin, Amanda Wolfe, her husband Adam, Brandon Endress, his wife Adrianna, and Noel Endress; great grandchildren Keegan Beeler, Piper Beeler, Liam Beeler, Briley Wolfe, Lane Milner, and Hunter Milner; brother Bill Myers; sister Reba Vencel; and brother-in-law Joe Allen.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday January 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Pastor Eddie Myers will be officiating. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to services from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Vista Care.

    I was a second grade teacher at Fuqua and Chris was the first and best teacher’s aide I ever had. She was so helpful. The students loved her and so did I. Some of the shy students blossomed with her guidance. After working with her I wondered how I ever got along without her help. I’m sure many people will miss this sweet, lovely lady.     Aunt Chirs was the sweetest women to ever walk this earth. My heart is sadden by her passing. God has just received the perfect angel.
