David R. Schoening, 59, of Terre Haute, died Monday February 22, 2010 at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 6, 1950 in Oshkosh, WI to Duane Schoening and Ardis (Zuege) Schoening. David is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debbie (Meneely) Schoening whom he married on June 20, 1971; his 2 children: David Schoening of Indianapolis and Dana Schoening Corthum of Terre Haute; 2 granddaughters: Ashley Bazier and Haley Corthum; 2 brothers: Dennis Schoening of Oshkosh, WI and Dan Schoening and his wife Lisa of Terre Haute; 5 sisters: Bonnie Marshall of St. Louis, MO, Barbara Gebhart and her husband Don, Beth King, Becky Towne, and Beverly Schleicher all of Wisconsin; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law: Kirk Corthum, father-in-law: Thomas Meneely, and brother-in-law: Fred Marshall. David enjoyed reading to his granddaughter Ashley and watching her play volleyball, he also loved family reunions in Wisconsin and his beloved Chicago Bears. David attended Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. Visitation will be Thursday February 25, 2010 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. Funeral services will be Thursday February 25, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Reverends Ralph Hill and Monte Vincent officiating. Cremation is scheduled for a later date.
