Obituaries

Catherine “Katie” May Gillin, 82, of Terre Haute died Monday January 18, 2010 at 11:25 AM in her residence surrounded by her family. She worked for many years at Sackrider Accounting. Katie was born March 29, 1927 in Sullivan County to Thomas McCombs and Laura (Gorby) McCombs. She is survived by her loving husband Buck Gillin; a son: Ronny Gillin and his wife Diana of Terre Haute; 3 daughters: Elizabeth “Libby” Kerr and her husband Steve of Prairie Creek, Deborah Maynard and her boyfriend Scott Pinkston of Hymera, and Martha Allen of Owensville, IN; a sister Patsy Eldridge of Terre Haute; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Bob “Butch” Gillin, a daughter: Carolyn Solonka, and 3 brothers: Thomas McCombs, Jim McCombs, and Bill McCombs. Funeral services are Wednesday January 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr., with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday January 19, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. The family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of their choice.

    Katie was a woderful person and I a so happy that I got to meet her! Although it has been many years since meeting her she was very special to her family.
