Carl Eugene Lawson, Sr., 82 of Clay City, passed away at 12:13 AM on Monday, February 20, 2012 in Union Hospital. He was born in Vigo County on August 4, 1929 to Harry Lawson and Rebecca Fagg Lawson. He was a retired mechanic for both Quaker Maid and Laborers Local # 204. He is survived by his wife Alta Price Lawson, 2 sons; Carl Lawson, Jr. (& wife Carol), and Russell Lawson (& wife Lynn), as well as two daughters; Diana Hayes and Karen Gilbert. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers; Richard, Leonard, Harvey, Walter, Henry, Jack, Don, and Virgil Lawson, and also by 4 sisters; Mary White, Ezel Mann, Ora Lawson, and Myrtl Lawson. He was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Worthington, IN, and was an Ordained Minister. He enjoyed travelling and vacationing as well as fishing and hunting. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Jeff Harpole officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home.

I will miss Uncle Carl so much. He was always so sweet and spunky. He could always make me laugh.

So sorry to hear about Carl. I live in Champaign Il now but I was in town for my cousin’s funeral and saw Carl’s in the paper. Rita’s funeral was at the same time as Carl’s. Your family were great neighbor’s and we have lots of memories. Vickie Barrett Morris and Family
